Baseball succumbs to Eastern Kentucky's late rally
March 11, 2004 BRADENTON, Fla. - Eastern Kentucky scored three times in the eighth inning to top St. Bonaventure, 12-10, on Wednesday in Bradenton, Fla. The Bonnies took a 10-9 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Colonels struck against the Bona bullpen, which saw four pitchers take the mound in that frame. Freshman Matt Marduesz was the losing pitcher. Freshman Ryan Kerr started on the mound for St. Bonaventure and allowed six earned runs and nine hits over 4-2/3 innings. The loss spoiled a big offensive day for the Bonnies. Sophomore designated hitter Matt Agostonelli finished 4-4 with two doubles and five RBI, while junior catcher Damian Blakeley went 3-5 with three RBI, one double and one triple. The Bonnies fell to 1-3, while Eastern Kentucky improved to 4-1.
The Bonnies will return to action on Thursday night at 7:30 against Holy Cross at Manatee (Fla.) Community College.
